Tech-Infused Drama Writing: Bridging Theatrical Creativity with Modern Tools for Enhanced Essay Experiences

 As educators, we find ourselves at a crucial point where traditional teaching methods meet the ever-changing technological landscape (Benjamin, 2005). Technology is an integral part of students' lives in today's classrooms. Therefore, incorporating technology in the essay-writing process can enhance their learning experiences (Wray, 2005).


Using technology in theatre/drama essay writing can be beneficial for students. One way to do this is by encouraging students to use digital storyboarding tools like Storyboard That or Canva. These tools can help students create storylines character arcs, and plot the dramatic structure of their essays by visually mapping out their ideas in a storyboard format. Using visuals, dialogue, and scene descriptions, students can crystallize their ideas before translating them into written form, making the essay writing process easier. Benjamin (2005) suggests that digital storyboarding tools can effectively help students write essays.

According to Wray (2005), students could benefit from this teaching method as it helps nurture their creative instincts and enhances their ability to visualize abstract concepts. In theatre and drama schools, technology can enhance students' learning experiences regarding essay writing.
